September is here and many area children are heading back to school. Residents are reminded to watch for children and stop when you see the red flashing lights of a school bus. As some children are staying home this fall be mindful that children may be playing or walking along the street at any time of the day, not just before and after school.

Construction will be starting on Royal Pines Road soon with construction wrapping up before Thanksgiving. Work will include pulverizing the surface, gravel application and hard surface finishing.

Due to a late start for preconstruction road surveying and engineering because of COVID restrictions, construction of bicycle lanes and asphalt overlay on Lett’s Cemetery road will not occur in 2020.  Work on the road should start in the spring of 2021.

Other than regular maintenance and a few small planned projects all other road projects have been completed for 2020.

Roadside cutting is continuing with Township tractors and we are coming into a busy time for local farmers.  Please take care when passing agricultural equipment and only pass when conditions are safe, do not pass on corners.

Recently a lot of maple trees in the area lost their leaves without any colourful fanfare.  Now we are starting to see the first hints of true fall colour.  Hopefully, this will bring visitors to our Township and a boost to the local economy as many will want to eat, shop and sleep.

The Township office is very busy with residents paying taxes.  The Township is getting a lot of positive feedback regarding the office service window that permits residents to access all regular township office services without having to wear a mask or enter the building.

Time to get a few last dips in the lake before the water gets a little too chilly.  Public washrooms at Melissa Bishop Park will remain open during the day until after thanksgiving weekend.

Want to have some time with family this fall and don’t have the room for physical spacing at home?  The Township Cottage is available to rent by the week until Thanksgiving.  Call the Township Office for details.

Conditions are still favorable to enjoy an evening campfire watching the stars and listening to the loons.  The full moon last night was spectacular!
