As of February 10th, Renfrew County and District Health Unit was moved out of the shutdown and into a revised and strengthened COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open in which RCDHU returns to the Green (prevent) zone. In the Green (prevent) zone libraries are permitted to open as per Ontario Regulation 364/20: Rules for Areas in Stage 3 (Schedule 2). Bonnechere Union Public Library (BUPL) can now resume services offered in December 2020.
Starting February 17th, BUPL will resume the following hours: Tuesdays 10:30 am to 4 pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, Fridays 10:30 am to 4 pm and Saturdays 10:30 am to 3 pm. Patrons are welcome to enter the library for in-person browsing, computer use (including printing/faxing/scanning), and limited in-person programming and access to our meeting room, called the Makerspace (please note, if you are booking the Makerspace we can allow a maximum of 2 persons in the room).
We ask that you follow all regular protocols of wearing a face covering and sanitizing your hands (or wearing gloves) when you enter the building and remain 6 feet away from other patrons whenever possible, but especially if health concerns prevent you from wearing a face covering. If you choose to stay in-library for an hour or longer, we will ask you for your information for contact tracing purposes (all personal information is kept strictly confidential). We will continue to quarantine all circulating library materials for an appropriate period of time before they are recirculated and sanitize high-touch surface areas.
We are so excited to have you back in-library and hope you can benefit from the exciting materials and programs we’ve been preparing!
You can borrow: hockey sticks, snowshoes, the No Stress Kit (a kit to help adults or kids relax, de-stress and improve overall mental health), STEAM kits (kits with science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics based activities), a Fender Strat guitar and amp and Ontario Parks day passes and book time in the Makerspace with our new tech, like the Climate Action Kit powered by the BBC micro:bit.
Blind Date with a Book and Blind Playdate with a Book throughout the month of February (request one of these and we pick out a book for you),
CBC Canada Reads live streaming from March 8-11 at 11am each day (we will have limited seats available on a first come, first serve basis),
