Winter Storm Safety – Be Prepared! North Algona Wilberforce Township encourages all residents to prepare a 72-hour emergency kit and know what to do before, during, and after a winter storm.
72-Hour Emergency Kit Essentials:• Water & non-perishable food
• Flashlight & extra batteries
• Battery-powered or crank radio
• First aid kit & medications
• Blankets & warm clothing
• Phone chargers & important documents
• Pet supplies
Before a Winter Storm:• Monitor weather forecasts
• Charge devices & fuel vehicles
• Stock up on food & medications
• Secure outdoor items
During a Winter Storm:• Stay indoors & avoid travel
• Use heat sources safely
• Keep devices charged for emergencies
• Follow local emergency updates
After a Winter Storm:• Clear snow safely
• Check on neighbours, especially seniors
• Report hazards or outages
• Watch for frostbite & hypothermia
