Significant snowfall today into Thursday.

Hazards:
Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm.
Peak snowfall rates up to 5 cm per hour.
Reduced visibility in areas of heavy snow.

Timing:
Today through Thursday.

Discussion:
Rain is expected to transition to snow this afternoon or early this evening. The changeover to snow will likely occur earliest over the Haliburton Highlands. Heaviest snow is expected this evening and overnight. Snow will taper in intensity through the day Thursday.

With temperatures being very close to the freezing mark, the snow may be very heavy and wet in nature. Local utility outages are possible as a result.

###

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
